Lithium Batteries RC Toys LiPo JST SM 2S 3S 3.7V 7.4V 11.1V Chargers
Lithium Batteries RC Toys LiPo JST SM 2S 3S 3.7V 7.4V 11.1V Chargers
To compliment our range of RC cars and trucks, we can provide a range of batteries for replacing and upgrading batteries for many premiums models and toys.
To ensure compatibility, please check the specifications of your product:
Size
Battery performance is typical relative to size due to electrolyte capacity. The most common battery sizes are:
- 14500 (14.3x50mm)
- 18650 (18x65mm)
- 21700 (21x70mm)
Premium RC manufacturers used black Li-Po batteries to maximise the size available in their models. These are typically the full-length or 'shorty' versions, but can be larger for extreme applications:
- Shorty - 93-96mm (l) x 45-47mm (w) x 19-25mm (h)
- Standard - 138-150mm (l) x 45-47mm (w) x 25-37mm (h)
- 4S-6S - 167mm (l) x 59mm (w) x 41mm (h)
Be aware that upgrading to a full-size battery requires a lot of space and some models may require a specific fitment kit to secure the unit. We provide the specific sizes on our batteries where applicable, approximate to +-3mm manufacture margin
Connection
You will need to select the appropriate connection for your device.
- SM connectors are the most common and come in 2P, 3P and 4P options, representing the number of pins.
- JST connectors are the most slim and universal connector, so used by aftermarket ESC boards, so these batteries are idea for custom projects
- T-plug and XT60 connectors are typical for high-end RC cars, such as MJX, where a comprehensive battery connection is required.
Some batteries are fitted with an additional balance connector for safe, universal USB charging, The factory charger is not always compatible, especially if you are upgrading 8.4V NiMh batteries with a 7.4V LiPo.
Rating
The capacity provides the runtime, so a higher rating is ideal.
The voltage rating determines the power and torque performance. For RC cars, 7.4V is classed as 2S and most common as it provides reasonable performance and control. High performance brands can support increase ratings, from 3S (11.V), 4S (14.8V) and 6S (15.2V), but be aware that increased power requires higher user experience in handling the units.
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are made with liquid electrolyte and provide high energy density for long-lasting applications. Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries contain a polymer gel, providing a lighter and more customisable unit, and higher discharge rate ideal for drone and RC applications.
RC models with NiMH batteries can often be upgraded to Li-ion/LiPo batteries, for improved performance and runtime, only if the model supports the voltage increase. Models supporting this change will include a switch on the internal power module to convert the unit. Please consult your manufacture and follow their specific instructions and safety precautions if attempting this, to prevent damage to your battery or unit.
