RC Buying Guide

HB Toys are a prominent Chinese toy manufacturer that
specializes in producing budget-friendly, hobby-grade remote control (RC) cars,
trucks, and rock crawlers. The company has over 20 years of manufacturing
experience and offers a wide range of different, affordable RC cars that are ready
to run out of the box. These models are ideal for children and new entrants
into RC models.

MN Model is a young, professional manufacturer of RC models, focused on good-quality productions with budget-friendly pricing.

Models tend to be near-ready to go, with only cosmetic components and batteries needing to be applied to play. Model builds include traditional mechanical components; functional suspensions, axles and gearboxes etc. Standard plastic components can be upgraded from a vast range of parts. Uprated motors, gearboxes, axles, suspension, in a variety of metal colours, to convert your model into a one-of-a kind masterpiece. MN models are not just toys; they are a learning experience! The fun isn't just in taking these out for a hardcore drive, but learning how the individual components work and how to maintain and upgrade them.

The MN82 is the base entry, with the MN90-99 and MN168 being nature progressions due to increasing complexity, performance and price points. These models share similar mechanical components. The MN86 and MN128 are more premium models, with more advanced chassis builds and component options. The MN222 is the latest and most advanced model, being a larger 1/10 scale models and featuring more advanced electrical components.

For their crawler range, MN Model offer excellent value for beginners and hobbyists, offering a unique experience in building a customised crawler. Our projects have included converting an MN82 model into a monster truck, with chassis lifts, over-sized tyres and enhanced suspension.

MN Model have introduced drift cars, such as the MN68, MN38 and MN268, but we do not currently plan to stock these, in favour of similar models from other brands.

ZLL are a new brand to the RC market and have hit the ground running with an impressive collection of high-quality RC cars. With a growing range of 1:16  to 1:20 models, showcasing high speeds, impressive build quality, premium technologies and electrical features, plus a choice of attractive designs for each release.

ZLL models are typically offered as Pro and Max models. Pro models offer a top speed up to 40km/h, an affordable entry for beginners, and good value for experienced enthusiasts who demand high performance. MAX models take it to the extreme, boasting speeds up to 80km/h, along with upgraded metal components throughout.

FMS (Famous Electronics Tech Co., Ltd) is a prominent brand in the radio-controlled hobby industry, originally established in 2007 as a top-tier manufacturer of RC airplanes.

Over recent years, FMS has aggressively expanded into the RC car and truck market, earning a stellar reputation for delivering highly realistic, officially licensed scale crawlers and trail trucks.

Their line-up predominantly targets "scale realism" enthusiasts, striking a balance between intricate visual details and capable hobby-grade mechanical platforms

FCX24 & FCX24M Series (1:24 Scale)

This platform serves as a benchmark for mini-climbing and micro-crawling performance. These vehicles feature a highly innovative portal-axle chassis and a functional two-speed transmission, allowing drivers to shift between low-speed rock crawling and faster trail trailing right from the transmitter. FCX18 Series (1:18 Scale)

Large-Scale Speed & Basher Vehicles (1:7 Scale)

Straying away from pure rock crawling, FMS also manufactures large-scale performance models like the 1/7 Ford Bronco RTR. This massive machine is capable of hitting speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph) utilizing a 6S LiPo battery setup, brushless power, and gyro-stabilised electronics

They are famous for producing ultra-affordable, high-speed "bashers" and rally cars built with surprisingly robust, hobby-grade metal drivetrains right out of the box

Their philosophy centres on "brushless power for the masses," delivering  performance that rivals premium brands like Traxxas or Arrma at a fraction of the cost

Understanding the MJX Model Numbering System

MJX uses a highly logical, structured model numbering system that allows enthusiasts to immediately identify a vehicle's scale and type based on the code

The Scale (First Two Digits): 73xxx = 1:7 Scale, 10xxx = 1:10 Scale, 12xxx = 1:12 Scale, 14xxx = 1:14 Scale, and 16xxx = 1:16 Scale

The Vehicle Class (Third Digit): x2xxx models are off-road trucks/truggy bashers, while x3xxx models are on-road rally/drift platforms

The Prefix: Newer premium releases utilize an H- prefix (e.g., H16, H8, H12), which usually highlights a shift toward advanced electronics configurations like FOC-brushless or sensored motor  systems

MJX Hyper Go 1:16 Off-Road Series

The legendary footprint that put MJX on the map. Models like the 16207 Buggy and 16208 Monster Truck run on 3S LiPo batteries, pushing these tiny vehicles to speeds over 45–60 km/h. They are famous for surviving massive jumps thanks to oil-filled metal shocks and thick plastic arms

MJX Hyper Go 1:14 Off-Road Series

Independent Electronics

Many budget "toy-grade" cars use combined 2-in-1 ESC/Receiver blocks that make upgrades impossible. MJX vehicles primarily use separate, standalone receivers and ESCs, meaning you can easily swap out the radio system or servo for your own custom hobby gear
