Increasing the wheelbase on your RC model, or upgrading to performance wheels can improve stability and performance.
This range of adapters and extensions support a range of brands and models, opening the door to a further range of wheel upgrades and adaptions.
5-7 mm hubs are the most restrictive on the market and converting them to 12mm with one of our adapters will allow fitment of a huge range of 12mm hex wheels.
Hub Upgrades
Stock 5mm hubs tend to be cheap and plastic, secured with 1.00 pitch screws. These can be converted with adapters/extensions that slot over the original plastic spline and accommodate stock screws, or are screwed into the side of the spline housing. Some include wheel washers to accommodate a larger wheel bore.
Metal axle upgrades can with a range of benefits but tend to be set to a 0.7 pitch. Our plastic 6mm extensions are popular as a subtle improvement on wheelbase and are incorporated into the wheel bore securely. Longer extensions protrude out the bore so are steel to provide structural support.
Brass extensions can be used over 5mm and 12mm hubs by encasing the spline and secured from the side with allen screws. Our extensions have a 6mm bore to accommodate a 5mm spline, secured by an allen screw. The fit can be improved with a small length of shrink wrap (non-glue) over the original hub, to enhance the grip. The additional weight of brass components are ideal for stabilising top-heavy models, such as the MN90-99 range, or improve suspension response.
Hub Potential
We have successfully converted a MN82 from a stock 5mm plastic hub to a monster truck, showcasing metal axles, 102mm tyres, installed with brass 30mm extensions and a double set of chassis lift kits. This illustrates the potential results from appropriate hub extensions, in combination with chassis lift kits and larger tyres.
