Everything you need to build your own Mini-Aquarium with our custom kits!
For customers of our Sea Monkey kits, we have introduced a range of mini kits so you can design and build your own aquatic environment for your brine shrimp. Everything you need is available in our aquarium section:
Building Block Tanks
These have been selected due to their size. A 500ml tank provides a suitable tank size for brine shrimp, who may struggle in larger tanks. These are stackable for a multi-tank setup and due to their shape, are not easily tipped over.
Aquarium Sand
Compatible with our tanks, 50g of colourful aquarium sand provides a suitable surface to create a natural environment and a base for decorations.
Sachet Kits
Our water preparation kit can be mixed with 500ml of purified water or tap water, to create a suitable environment (we advise against tap water due to the risk of remaining chemicals that can pose a risk to shrimp). Egg sachets have a 90% hatch rate for guaranteed success and our organic food pouches provide the ingredients necessary to create edible algae.
Air Pump Kit
Your tank water needs to be oxygenated for your shrimp to survive, so be sure to use a pipette, or automate the process with one of our USB-powered oxygen-pumps. These include air stone for protective oxygenation and 2 valves, which can be installed either in-line or directly on the tank. Set these to minimum flow for a safe environment.
Directions
These tanks were put together by our team with successful batches. From our experience:
Build up your tank with a couple of decorations, which not just create a nice appearance, but helps the shrimp, who can get lost in a large volume of empty water. They need to find a surface to feed of algae. Do not use gravel as they can become trapped.
Fill with bottled mineral water with our kit, with an oxygen pump. Add a portion of food and allow this to settle for 48 hours under sunlight before adding the eggs. This allows algae to develop and provides a suitably settled environment.
Keep your tank at room temperature and avoid extreme changes (do not place on a window sill) Monitor the level of algae and add more food when necessary.
